Seeking Insight...Unity?

In the aftermath of the Bali bombings, this body of work seeks to expand my knowledge of Islam and investigates some of the principles behind the religion.

After Christianity, Islam is the second-largest religion in the world and the fastest-growing religion in the United States of America today. American culture is sometimes seen as a social barometer that Australia follows. In this exhibition I have attempted to merge Islamic iconoclastic culture with Australian natural and cultural icons.

Through the medium of knitting, I hope to encourage the viewer to look beyond what ‘newspaper education’ is telling us, to ask some questions, and ponder upon the philosophies of Islam.
